When I talk about changing the pace of your life to suit the season you are living in, I don’t mean planning a vacation or waiting for a sabbatical for things to slow down.
Learning how to pace our own lives requires that we check in with our bodies — not our thinking, especially when those thoughts are racing — and let go of the expectations of what we thought we were going to do.
Sometimes, taking care of our nervous system means sitting in the car in the parking lot of the Trader Joe’s in Burien, to open the windows and breathe in the air. Put down the phone. And look at the clouds.
Pick out the week’s groceries after that small pause.
Tomorrow, on May the 4th, I'm teaching a workshop about how to slow down and move at our own pace, to honor our nervous systems and let go of hustle culture.
We’ll also talk about how to face the fact that resting, slowing down, and giving ourselves time to do what helps us calm can make most women feel deeply uncomfortable.
We can change that. Together.
If this feels intriguing to you, then I would love to see you in the workshop.

And if you’re anything like me — a woman in midlife with ADHD — you might intend to come back to this email later to sign up, then forget all about it.
Do yourself a favor.
I hope that you are noticing the small, good things of your day.
Remember: I believe in you.
With warmth and joy,
